Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (b. 6 August 1844, Berkshire, England-d. 30 July 1900, Coburg, German Empire) was the son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He entered the Royal Navy at age 14 in 1858 as a midshipman; he was promoted to captain in 1866.
